Uh-Oh, the AC Is Blowing Warm Air!

AC-outdoor-unit The reason why so many problems with air conditioners are sometimes allowed to spiral out of control is really quite simple—many of them can be very difficult to spot, let alone to identify as a symptom of a potential problem. An air conditioner that is blowing air, though? Yeah, that one is a bit simpler to recognize. Simple problems don’t always have simple causes or solutions, though, and there are actually a number of different reasons why your air conditioner may be blowing warm air.

In today’s post, we are going to cover some of those reasons, what you can do, and why you are going to need professional AC services in most cases. If and when any such problem (or any other AC problem) demands it, you can count on our team for great air conditioning repair in Raleigh, NC. It is just too hot around here to take any chances with your home cooling system!

First Things First—Is It a Localized Problem?

It’s strange, isn’t it? Your air conditioner seems to be cooling other rooms in your home effectively but, for some reason, there is warm air blowing from a single vent. It’s not your imagination. It is probably a duct leak.

Leaky ductwork is one of the most common problems with both forced air heaters and air conditioners. If you have a leaky duct servicing any part of your home, it will take heat in in the summertime as it passes through unconditioned areas of the house. Then, the air that it distributes back into your home will feel warmer. Professional duct sealing is the only way to fix this problem.

You Could Have a Refrigerant Leak!

We don’t mean to alarm you, but this warm air blowing from the AC could be the result of a refrigerant leak. That’s bad news because, well, refrigerant leaks can lead to very serious damages for your air conditioning system. If you see ice on your evaporators coil or refrigerant lines, and notice your AC short cycling, then this is very likely what you are dealing with.

Your air conditioner needs a set amount of refrigerant in order to cool your home effectively. If refrigerant is leaking out of the system, then it will struggle to cool your home effectively. It just won’t be capable of removing a sufficient amount of heat from the air passing over the evaporator coil. You need to have us pinpoint the source of the leak and patch it up completely if you are serious about protecting your comfort and the integrity of your air conditioner.

The System May Just Be too Small

This is the last thing that you want to hear. Why? Because you cannot just add power to your air conditioning system. If your AC is too small for the space that you are trying to cool down with it, then replacing that AC with an appropriately sized air conditioner is really your only option.

If you do need an air conditioning replacement, the good news is that you are reading this now. Why is that good news? Because it means that you’ve already found great air conditioning technicians to do the job.
