Furnace Tune-Ups in Raleigh and the Triangle
Ideal Services Heating & Cooling performs furnace tune-ups throughout Raleigh, Holly Springs, and the Triangle. Triangle winters run mild until a cold snap arrives, and cold snaps are when heating equipment is tested hardest. A fall tune-up checks the everyday heating and the backup that cold mornings call on. The tune-up is an annual heating service: our technicians clean and test the furnace, provide and change the standard filter, and verify the system heats safely and to specification. Pricing is upfront, and same-day service is part of how we work.
Schedule your furnace tune-up with Ideal Services by phone, online, or through our round-the-clock website chat, with same-day service when you need it. Your technician tests the everyday heat and the backup your coldest morning depends on and presents anything further as tiered options with upfront prices. Choose the Ideal choice for your heating and cooling needs.

What Our Heating Tune-Up Covers
The checklist spans gas furnaces and heat pumps, matched to what your home runs:
- System performance is evaluated and controls are adjusted as needed.
- On furnaces, burners are inspected and cleaned, the flame sensor is cleaned, and the ignitor is examined and tested.
- The heat exchanger is inspected for cracks, and the system is tested for gas leaks.
- On heat pumps, our technician tests heating mode, checks the defrost cycle, and evaluates the electric heat strips with amp draw recorded.
- The blower motor and wheel are examined, and air temperature rise is evaluated.
- Wiring and connections are tightened and the safety circuits are tested.
- The standard one-inch filter gets changed, and we provide it.
- The duct system is examined to make sure performance isn’t being compromised.
Why the Everyday Heat and the Backup Both Get Tested
A heat pump has two winters: the mild one, where the refrigerant system does the work, and the cold snap, where defrost and electric strips decide whether the house stays warm. Our checklist tests all of it, including strip amp draw, so a weak strip is found in the fall instead of during a freeze.
For gas furnaces, the flame sensor and ignitor checks address two parts that decide whether the furnace lights, and the heat exchanger inspection covers the safety question every combustion system carries. Either way, a fall visit means the first cold morning is not the first test. Keeping the tune-up current is also part of staying within warranty terms.
The Ideal Approach to Heating Service
Findings come as options, not ultimatums: upfront pricing with tiered choices presented at quote time, so you weigh a basic fix against a longer-term one with the numbers in front of you. Behind every job stands the guarantee: fixed right the first time, or we’ll make it right for free.
Same-day service keeps the lead time short, and our furnace team handles repairs across the Triangle. Scheduling is online, by phone, or through the 24/7 website chat, for homes and businesses alike.

FAQs
Should I schedule my furnace tune-up in the fall?
Yes. A fall visit checks the everyday heating and the backup that cold mornings call on, so anything it finds can be fixed before the first cold snap. Same-day service is available when you need it.
Why do you record the amp draw on my heat strips?
Because the number tells the truth the thermostat hides. Strips are banks of elements, and one can burn out while the others mask it, leaving you with reduced backup heat you will only notice during a hard freeze. The recorded draw shows whether every element is pulling its share.
What is a flame sensor and why does cleaning it matter?
It is a small rod that confirms the burners lit, and the furnace shuts gas off if it cannot read flame. A film of combustion residue builds on it over time, causing the furnace to start and shut down repeatedly. Cleaning it is quick during a tune-up and a common fix for that pattern.
How do I know if my heat pump's defrost is working?
You mostly cannot tell from indoors, which is why we check it directly. In winter, outdoor coils ice over by design, and the defrost cycle clears them; when defrost fails, ice builds on the outdoor unit and heating capacity drops. The tune-up includes a check of the defrost cycle.
What will the tune-up cost, and will there be surprises?
The price depends on your equipment type and system count, and a technician can confirm the price for your equipment. If the visit finds something beyond maintenance, you get tiered repair options presented at quote time. Peak Performance Plan members have both annual visits included.

The technician explained how my system works and ways I could save some energy costs in very cold weather with a split unit. My only previous experience was with a heat pump. He did a thorough job doing my winter inspection. I used Ideal in my previous house and was pleased with their service there.

Service technician was incredibly professional, very attentive to our HVAC system. When he smelled a gas coming from our system he performed testing to see where the leak was coming from and fixed it. Would highly recommend!!
