How Geothermal Cooling Works
If you dig a 10 foot hole in the ground and go down inside it, you’ll find that no matter how hot or cold it is on the surface, the temperature in the ground will feel the same. What you are feeling is the heat coming from the core of the Earth; regardless of the temperature on the surface—whether a blazing 95°F or frigid 10°F—the area underground will remain around 55°F.
